My Approach

Welcome to North West Dyslexia Assessments, based in North Lancashire. I pride myself on providing a friendly, approachable environment where adults and children can feel comfortable and at ease. In my twenty plus years of teaching, I have seen first-hand the importance of understanding the different ways in which people learn. This real-life experience has informed not only my practice as an assessor, but also ensures that I make individualised recommendations that are useful, practical and meaningful.

Full Diagnostic Assessments - £495

A full dyslexia assessment usually takes between 2 to 3 hours. Tests include reading fluency, speed and comprehension, alongside spelling and writing. Cognitive ability and processing speed are also assessed in addition to short-term memory and phonological processing.

Before the assessment day, you will be asked to fill in a questionnaire to provide background information that will assist with the process.

Following the assessment, a comprehensive report will be ready within 2 to 3 weeks. This will include diagnosis information and recommendations for support within the education / workplace setting. The report also provides practical and helpful strategies / resources that will assist in day to day life.

All assessments and reports follow the guidelines set by the SpLD Assessment Standards Committee (SASC). For more information on these standards, please visit www.sasc.org.uk

Dyslexia Screening - £195

A dyslexia screening assessment normally takes between 1 to 1.5 hours. It includes some of the core tests used in the full diagnostic assessment and can identify strengths, challenges and possible traits of dyslexia.

The screening assessment is a cost-effective way of helping learners understand their needs and can be the first step towards a dyslexia diagnosis.

Following the assessment, a short report is provided with recommendations for parents and schools.
